Before You Scan
Best Practices for Accuracy

For the most consistent and meaningful results:
    • Scan at the same time each day
    • Morning is best, after using the restroom
    • Avoid food or drinks beforehand
    • Use bare feet only
    • Place the scanner on a hard, flat surface
    • Stand still and upright during scans
Daily fluctuations are normal. Long-term trends are what matter most.



Path. Body Scanner™ Troubleshooting

Scanner Will Not Turn On
Possible causes
    • Battery is depleted
    • Scanner is not being activated
What to do
    • Fully charge the scanner using the included cable. Charging may take up to 2 hours
    • Lightly step on the scanner to wake it
    • Confirm the display lights up before pairing

Scanner Will Not Connect to Health by Path. (Bluetooth)
Possible causes
    • Bluetooth is turned off
    • Scanner is not awake
    • App permissions are not enabled
What to do
    • Turn Bluetooth on in your phone settings
    • Open Health by Path.
    • Lightly step on the scanner to wake it
    • Follow the in-app pairing instructions
    • Ensure Bluetooth and location permissions are enabled
If pairing still fails, restart your phone and try again.

Wi-Fi Setup Issues
(Optional connection)
If Wi-Fi will not connect
    • Confirm you are using a 2.4 GHz network
    • Move closer to your router
    • Complete Bluetooth pairing first
    • Retry setup from within the app


Why Your Metrics Can Change (And What That Really Means)
Seeing numbers move can feel confusing. It is important to know that a change in a metric does not automatically mean your body has physically changed.


Temporary Changes vs Real Change
Health by Path. uses bioelectrical impedance to estimate body composition. This method is highly sensitive to how water is distributed in your body, which can change daily.
Because of this:
    • A change in body fat percentage does not necessarily mean you gained or lost fat
    • A change in muscle mass does not mean you built or lost muscle overnight
    • Your body composition cannot meaningfully change in a single day
True changes in fat and muscle happen gradually over weeks and months.


The Role of Water in Your Readings
Your body constantly adjusts how it holds water. These shifts directly affect scan results.
Temporary water changes can be influenced by:
    • Hydration levels
    • Sodium or carbohydrate intake
    • Hormonal or cycle-related changes
    • Inflammation or muscle soreness
    • Stress, poor sleep, or travel
    • Recent workouts
When water shifts:
    • Fat percentage may appear higher or lower
    • Muscle mass may appear to change
    • Weight may fluctuate without true gain or loss
These are reading changes, not real body changes.


How to Read Your Metrics Correctly
Daily scans are data points, not conclusions.
What matters most:
    • Consistent scanning habits
    • Weekly patterns instead of single days
    • Long-term trends over time
If one metric moves briefly while others remain stable, it is almost always temporary.


What Indicates Real Progress
Real body composition change looks like:
    • Gradual trend movement over weeks
    • Consistency across multiple metrics
    • Alignment with how you feel, move, and recover


Scanning Back to Back
If you take two scans close together, it is normal for the readings to be slightly different.
Why This Happens
Small differences can occur based on:
    • How firmly you hold the handles
    • Thumb placement on the sensors
    • Arm position and posture
    • Body movement during the scan
    • Skin contact and moisture levels
Skin moisture can change quickly due to temperature, sweat, or hydration and may slightly influence readings.
These differences are expected and temporary. They do not represent real changes in body fat or muscle.


Best Practice
    • Complete one scan per session
    • Stand still and upright
    • Hold the handles the same way each time
Your trends will always be more meaningful than any single scan.


Multiple Users (Coming Soon)
Support for multiple user profiles will be available in a future release of Health by Path.
What this will allow
    • Each person to have their own profile
    • Separate metrics and trends per user
    • Shared use of one Path. Body Scanner
Current status
    • Multiple users are not available during the initial metrics beta
    • Only one user profile is supported at this time

Path. Smart Measuring Tool™ Troubleshooting

Measuring Tool Will Not Turn On
Possible cause
    • Battery is low
What to do
    • Fully charge using the included USB-C cable
    • Allow up to 2 hours for a full charge

Measuring Tool Will Not Connect to Health by Path.
What to check
    • Phone is within 26 feet or 8 meters
    • Bluetooth is enabled
    • Correct device is selected: path.sbtm01
What to do
    • Power off the tool, then turn it back on
    • Reopen Health by Path.
    • Retry pairing from Health → Add Circumference → Add Device

Measurement Will Not Save
What to do
    • Press the Confirm button on the device
    • Wait for the measurement to appear in the app
    • Tap Save before exiting

Tape Will Not Retract or Feels Stuck
What to do
    • Press the Retract button gently
    • Do not pull beyond 150 cm or 60 inches
    • If the display becomes erratic, reset using the pin

These metrics are designed to show patterns and trends, not provide medical diagnoses.
